AionFLX™ ionomers
The PFAS-free binder chemistry matched to AionFLX™ membranes, for catalyst layers and electrode builds in AEM water electrolysis.
what it is
AionFLX™ ionomer is the binder chemistry matched to AionFLX™ membranes. It lets electrode developers build fully PFAS-free AEM cells instead of pairing a PFAS-free membrane with a PFAS-based ionomer.
It is used in catalyst inks and electrode builds for AEM water electrolysis and related AEM devices. CENmat uses the same ionomer in its own spray-printed OXYGN and H2GN coated electrodes.
Customers who want a single qualification path can order it as part of a materials pack together with membranes and coated electrodes.
Applications
- Catalyst inks for AEM anodes and cathodes
- Catalyst-coated substrates and membranes (R&D)
- PFAS-free electrode development
- Binder benchmarking in AEM test cells
Formats and supply
- Ionomer for ink formulation (form and concentration per datasheet)
- Materials pack with AionFLX™ membranes and OXYGN/H2GN coated electrodes

how to qualify
- Tell us your cell or stack format, operating window (electrolyte, temperature, pressure) and test plan.
- We recommend a matched set (membrane, ionomer, OXYGN anode, H2GN cathode) and send the datasheet.
- Order a paid sample set and run your break-in, polarisation and durability protocol.
- Review the results with our team and agree formats, volumes and lead times for the next step.

frequently asked questions
Why use a matched ionomer?
Membrane and binder chemistry that belong together simplify interface behaviour in the catalyst layer and keep the whole cell PFAS-free.
Can I use AionFLX™ ionomer with my own catalysts?
Yes. Many customers qualify it with their own catalysts first. Tell us your catalyst and coating method and we suggest a starting ionomer content.
Is the ionomer available on its own?
Yes, as a paid sample or in larger quantities on request. It is also part of the CENmat materials pack.
What information comes with the sample?
The datasheet and handling notes. Ask for them via the datasheet form; they are sent personally by our team.
